Do you guys want to take better product or blog photographs? After I got on a roll with yesterday’s post about my top 10 props to style food photography, I knew I should definitely share my favourite blog photographs from the past few years of my own prop styling and display, hopefully to inspire you to do a bit more styling and shooting for your own blogs! I had a little obsession with vintage spools thread for a long time because it was such a handy little ‘prop’ that I had in my possession. It actually started a bit of a buying spree on ebay so I don’t advise that if you are easily mislead like I am. Be careful not to invest too much in one prop as your photographs can become very ‘samey’ (I found a lot of my photos were getting very samey, just in different colours!) You can scroll to see my list!
and of course we have everybody’s favourite; Cath Kidston Washi Tape! These photographs were shot the day those beauties arrived and they’re taped up on top of a notebook from Cath Kidston also.
I couldn’t resist all of these beautiful sequins when I found this ceramic egg holder in a little shop near my home for about £1.99. Bargain!
and more washi tape! yay! A great idea for prop styling I think. Washi tape is always a great little addition to any photograph but, much like my vintage spools addiction, washi tape and the purchasing of such fabulously coloured masking tape can also be addictive!
I also love shooting flowers. They add such beautiful colour and shape to photographs. See the little votive holder that little tulip is in? I broke it. And that broke my heart! I am still to replace it. *sigh*
