Learning To Crochet | Persevere... Inspiring Crochet
Ok! So... as you lovely readers know I am teaching myself how to crochet!! I started off using Tshirt yarn for a project over at RVA Summer Camp...
This book is Glorious Things to Do by Rosemary Davidson incase youre wondering. Anywho.. this tshirt yarn.. is THE DEVIL! when trying to learn lol.. i could count my holes and they ended up looking like a crochet donut after my first attempt at double stitch!! Ive started with some thick wool now and it took a couple of hours and woo!!
... you guys have NO IDEA how much your wonderful comments in the last post helped me to not give up! I was so close but you were all so lovely.
We can pretend this is a welcome matt for a very very tiny person but alas.. as my first crochet attempt i didnt want to make it massive! So its big enough that i can fit into a frame and remember the time that i finished my first piece of crochet ever.. and im going to love it with its imperfections and dropped stitches because this is part of the learning process. WIth my new found love for crochet i went searching... and... these images.. omg.. I cant wait until i learn all types of crochet! My whole house is going to be covered.
This i would happily make myself!! But i cant crochet yet lol. Just you wait until i can do more than a single stitch! This stool is from RICE DK and is so fabulous.. it would look amazing in my living room... and would be fabulous to keep a sewing kit in! Or even magazines..
This is so cute!! This garland is made by Super Ninon on Flickr! I absolutely love her. (she creates the most amazing plushies!)
I cant wait until i can do these but im just taking baby steps lol. Source
This pouffe is amazing... I absolutely love the top of it!! I need to buy more wool :)
I want this blanket so much!! And the wee vase is totally adorable. I wouldnt even have a clue where to start making a blankey like this.. Says she who is in the process of learning how to make an ordinary quilt also!!
Here's a stack of the amazing pillowcases..
How adorable is this crochet trimmed retro pillowcase? Its amazing.. I absolutely love the fabric too!
Who doesnt want multi coloured crochet hangers? Tell me!
I want to make a garland out of these bad boys!
Ok im definitely resting up tonight and croceting... even if i attempt to make some A5 size rectangle i will be so happy once its complete!! Then i will try!! What did you guys start off with making in crochet?
If you love all these im collecting crochet inspiration in this Flickr Gallery!

Awesome, awesome projects!! I LOVE the banner!!! And almost all of them! Swoon! And the blanket you're loving is called "granny square" - and it's so easy, it's one of the first things people usually learn how to do!! Once you get up and running, it's only two stitches - chain + double crochet/triple crochet... Anywho!
It's looking good! Before you know it, you'll be doing all the stuff you want. ^_^
I just started trying to crochet, & it's so hard! All I can do is chain & single crochet. Double crochet is too complicated ugh.
Knitting is much easier. :/
I just started crocheting a couple of days ago. I'm picking it up pretty well!! I'm so proud of myself. :) I'm going to try to do the granny square today.

good job on finishing your first project!!
keep practicing! I'm so glad I kept at it, it's so relaxing. Something that can really help you get the hang of it is to find the right type of hook for you, I tried a bunch of different types when I started out. I find that the aluminum are the easiest for me to work with, plastic infuriated me to no end! the yarn kept getting caught, it just didn't flow right. My first project was a granny square, the main reason I wanted to learn, I made a bunch and joined them into a blanket for my daughter
Thanks for the great project ideas! I love all of the different colors and styles. For anyone looking where to purchase crochet yarn online, I found this great website called Paradise Fibers that have a ton crochet yarn selection and they ship super quick! Hope this helps! :)
