A No Hassle Mini Guide For Upgrading Your Bathroom Decor!
After recovering from Christmas, New Years and initial planner fuelled excitement for the New Year (it can’t just be me. Can it?!). The so called dust has settled and now it’s time to start one of those big projects that you’ve wanted to start (for far too long).
When I say big project, perhaps Umbrella Project is a more suitable name.
“Huh?! Umbrella what now?” I hear you cry. Ok, you could consider the ‘Umbrella’ in this instance as ‘Update the bathroom’, with many smaller projects falling under the umbrella.
The first thing I want to know is; do you have a colour palette for your bathroom decor? If not, why not?!
A long time ago I realised that having a colour palette and sticking to it (for myself it’s pale pastels so I rarely let any bold decor into the house) brings a cohesiveness to the entire house, not just one room.
Consider figuring out your favourite colour palette, it could make a huge difference to your decor!
What are the colours and styles that make your heart sing?
For me? These are the two palette’s I stick to in life.
The #1 Simple update to your bathroom (in this list) is to pick a colour palette and stick to it.
If there are items in your bathroom that don’t match the colour palette, tidy them away for now. In a month or two you may want to donate to charity. While you figure out what you want to do with excess items that no longer fit your design scheme.
#2 Add a Visual Feature To Your Wall
Whether you decide to tile your bathroom, paint your tiles, add facia or large art work; pick a wall and make it POP! I have big plans for some mint coloured tiles, but that lies in my future. Hopefully! If you want to throw a little money at your project I recommend taking a look at the Rohl Bath range over at PlumbTile.
#3 Add pattern or texture using blinds or curtains
Last year I decided to add a blind to my bathroom but I wanted it to be pink and I wanted it to be floral, so I made my own! You can view the tutorial here.
#4 Head to a second hand shop or thrift store and treat yourself to a gorgeous vintage/decorative mirror
(you don’t have to go second hand but why not?)
Like this little second hand mirror I have in my living room!
#5 Decant Toiletries into vintage bottles or uniform bottles
You can pick up vintage style bottles quite easily and it’s very simple to decant your toiletries into chic little vessels! The uniformity can really make a huge difference to any room.
See?! 5 Simple steps!
