How To Achieve Chic Autumn Style on a Budget
For weeks I have said how ‘it doesn’t feel like Autumn yet’, well, it finally happened.
The dark nights draw in, the air getting colder, leaves falling from the trees and a real craving for some vegetable soup have finally convinced me that it’s Autumn.
With the arrival of Autumn, it’s time to switch out the bright Summer colours in my living room artwork and soft furnishings.
I wanted to find a way of decorating my living room so that it matches the season but on a tight budget. Being on a budget made me realise that I had to think about which elements I wanted to spend my money on.
Adorn With Garlands
The quickest way to add the warm, golden tones of autumn is by adding a garland or two.
Depending on your budget, you can make one yourself or buy one like this amazing heart garland. There are some incredible garlands available on Etsy.
Add A Touch Of Warmth
There are a few ways which you can add a touch of warmth to your home; with candles, fuzzy warm blankets, kidnapping stray cats from the neighbourhood and using different textured textiles in your room.
I love lighting candles in the evening, (for a little added warmth) and as soon as I saw this enamel candle holder, I wanted it! I’ve never seen a triangle version, it looks shabby chic and delightful.
Adding candle holders in neutral colours will take you through several seasons as they can be matched with the different coloured decor.
You can always treat yourself to some scented candles in your favourite Autumn smells! I would love to sniff this Apples and Maple Bourbon candle.
At this time of year, I love any scented candles that remind me of baking without having to eat all of the pies immediately.
I am very tempted to purchase these Maple Syrup wax melt tarts. I want to drink that syrup. Me? Have a sweet tooth? Uhm….
Wrap yourself up in chunky blankets. This chenille blanket looks amazingly cozy. I’m going to have to purchase this blanket for myself. The blanket is from Dunelm, which seems to be a store that keeps appearing in my ‘on a budget‘ themed posts.
Your mug needs a blanket too. I think this is one of my favourite colours of the season, and I love holding a big mug of tea with a beautiful knitted cosy.
Add A Little Glitter
You could always add some fabulous glitter decorations to your mantel or door hanger! If you take care of these, they will last a lifetime, so well worth the investment.
I would like to know now, how do you add a touch of Autumn to your home?
