Clay Craft DIY Mushroom House
I found the most fabulous clay craft tutorial to make a little decorative tea light holder from baby food jars and Fimo clay!
How To Make The DIY Clay Mushroom
Supplies pictured below:
- Fimo Clay in Red
- Clay in Pink
- White Fimo Clay
- Clay in Green
- Fimo Clay in Brown
- Emerald Green Clay
- Cookie cutters
- An X-Acto Knife
- Soy Flakes to make a candle
- Baby food jar
- Use a pair of gloves to protect your hands (polymer clay is highly toxic)
Use white polymer clay to cover up the baby food jar.
Attach the clay starting from the bottom going up to the top of the jar.
Now use an x-acto knife and cut out 2 to 3 window openings and a wee door.
Take the brown clay and use it to model the branches, the window frames and the door. On the door, create a wee ball that you can turn into the door handle. Use the X-Acto knife to add scores to the door’s surface and achieve a wood effect.
Grab your cookie cutters and use it to cut out little heart shapes that will be used on the door. Now it’s time to create a small section of grass to decorate the base of the jar. Use the dark green at first and then if you want a more realistic look (and more like the images) use the lighter green clay to create leaves; a mixture of dark and leaf coloured.
Again, use the knife to score in realistic details.
It’s already starting to take shape! Woo! Now it’s time to make the flowers by using the pink and red shades.
Remember the lid of the jar is the top of your mushroom. Cover the lid with red clay and make some white balls to squish into the top.
