Today I have a simple tutorial! Well, relatively simple once you have a few practice runs. It’s always easy when you know how huh? 😛 First, the tutorial tells you how to make this snowflake out of some white glue sticks and your glue gun.
You will need:
White Glue Sticks (you can buy them here and it’s way cheaper than using Mod Melts)
The trick is to do it very slowly. When your glue is really hot (some glue sticks wont drip but you will know when they’re very hot), start doing a few practice squeezes and then see how the gun works when you slow down a little.
I used the back of another mould to do this because you can peel the glue off and clean it.
I found, that when you use a mould with a lot of detail in the edges, that you should bend your rubber back so you can poke the end of your glue gun in there squeeze it just a little. I moved around and bent the mould for all edges and when those were finished, I worked from the outside in with the glue. When you do this – do it slowly. Let the glue come out and poke the end in and wiggle it around; that gets rid of any air bubbles. Don’t be afraid to poke the end of your glue gun into the hot glue, overcoming that fear totally changed how my glue came out of moulds! To finnish – swirl your glue gun around and pull back gently into the air. You can snip any waspy bits with some embroidery scissors. You will need to trim off those bits when you finish.
Glue Gun Snowflake Straws —
Simply reheat the back of the snowflake with the tip of your gun – not for too long. Then simply press your snowflake onto your straw!
