Hang Plates On The Wall!
Go, crazy lady! If you have some beautiful vintage plates, you could hang the beautiful plates on the wall. You can buy plate display racks on eBay (that’s where I bought mine).
You can hang a variety of plates with different sizes, patterns and colours and you should really hang the largest/boldest plate towards the centre of your little gallery.
If you love the idea of hanging plates on the wall but aren’t brave enough to hang them up, you could invest in some decorative paper plates by Talking Tables!
Some examples of decorative paper plates (hover to see details):
Decorate around your windows:
There are some simple ways you can add decorative interest to your windows; hanging colourful lanterns, Multicolored Cartoon Floral Fabric Flag Buntings Garlands Wedding Birthday Party Decoration _or even adding a pair of decorative tie backs for your curtains.
Add a little extra light to your life!
A few well-placed mirrors on your walls can make the world of difference.
Seriously. I hung a Better Homes and Gardens White Baroque Easy to Hang Florence Wall Mirrors, Set of 3 in my hall, with a little paper punched out string garland and a few frames full of magazine tear outs.
The light is just lovely, and it’s one of my favourite views in my home.
Use them to add light & shimmer to your walls! Your cat will love it too.
Make Use Of Free Stuff –
Like Pretty Pink Pebbles from that beach in France, beautiful sea shells or stuff you find in skips! (Always ask permission before nabbing anything from a skip on the side of the road.)
Because you’re on a budget, it doesn’t mean that your home has to look cheap. You will know if something looks like it’s a quality item or it looks cheap. Avoid the super tacky faux flowers that seem to be everywhere!
Mix and match cheaper items with expensive items
When I say expensive items I mean; Cath Kidston items that you got for a bargain on eBay 😉
