Have you ever hosted a Christmas party that was a complete flop? I have… my friend even disappeared and fell asleep on the couch. It was so last minute that the main party rooms weren’t even decorated.
So, the next year, I made sure I made some sort of a plan… I reviewed what worked and what didn’t. A lot didn’t. But the next year… was a complete smash!
All about tacky Christmas Jumpers and that was back in the day where you really had to search for a tacky jumper or make your own! I wanted to teach you how to organize a Christmas party that your friends and family will absolutely love!
Recently, I spent a week creating a 64 page Darling December Christmas planner for you as I LOVE using planners to stay organised. (There’s a 9 page party planner too that’s cheaper).
So are you ready to host a Christmas party that your family and friends will not forget?
It allows for a nearly stress-free Christmas! All you have to do is commit an hour or two to do some planning and you’re good to go!
Using the party planner (that’s contained within the Darling December Christmas Planner), you need to decide on the date first of all. With a little bit of planning and forward thinking, you will be able to plan the best party ever with minimal stress.
Here’s a preview of the Darling December Planner:
Let’s get started!
Make a guest list.
There’s a chance that you will need to get in touch with potential guests to see if the date suits. Depending on how many you’re inviting of course.
Set that date now and let people know. Track any food intolerances or allergies because it could transfer over to alcoholic beverages too.
Invite guests. Track attendees on the guest list.
If you’re hosting a dinner party, use the sheet provided to create a seating chart.
Set your budget.
These sheets are included in the planner. You will need a budget for decor, your outfit, and food ‘n’ drink.
It’s so important to Track The Money honey! Most people are scared to look at their bank accounts but if you want to have money left over for those January sales or to even get you to the end of January, you must set a budget and stick to it!
The Party Decor
Plan your theme and decor. Is it a Christmas Jumper party? Those are my favourite!
You might already have all the decorations that you need for your amazing night to remember. Use the decor inventory sheets to track everything you have already. This will give you a better idea of what you might need.
Your house may already be decorated for Christmas and if you have everything to hand, set up the main party rooms and areas with all the festive trimmings. Prepare your table decor items in a basket so everything is at hand when you have to decorate the table on the day.
Review recipes for party food, and plan the menu. Included in the planner are a menu planner, baking planner and favourite recipes recipe cards. Remember to check your guest list for any notes about food allergies and intolerances.
Select the party music. Usually, I head to Spotify and create playlists or use a playlist that has already been created. Be sure to include some retro hits and not lots of poppy tripe from previous years. Depending on the tone of the party of course.
Some playlist suggestions on Spotify:
- Christmas Hits Album (contains a fair amount of Poppy tripe)
- 80’s Christmas hits
- Christmas Soul Essentials
- The Muppets Christmas Carol (some amazing songs if you’re building your own playlist)
- Happy Holidays section of Spotify
One week before the party do a deep clean and a day before the party, use the quick cleaning checklist at the end of the Darling December planner.
