You Will Need:
Americana Décor chalk paint
Americana Decou Page Glue
Roller (For Paint)
Brush (For Glue)
Spontan Magnetic Board (or baking sheet)
Craft Knife (if you aren’t wrapping lace around the sides)
Something to clean your board
The first step is to clean your magnetic board. I used rubbing alcohol to make sure it was super clean before I started to paint.
I set my magnetic board on top of an empty terracotta pot so I would be able to paint the sides without worrying about my desk (need not have worried, I still covered it in paint) and I started to apply my first coat of paint. I used a brush and regretted it. The brush marks were very visible so I decided to switch to a mini roller for a smoother finish on my second coat. You will need two coats of paint, allow the first coat to dry completely before applying the second.
Cut the lace to the appropriate size (whatever size makes it easier for you to layer on top of the board).
Next you will want to apply an even layer of Deco Page glue and lay the lace over the board. Then apply a second coat of Deco Page glue over the top of the lace.
Allow to dry.
Once dry, due to the width of my lace It was easier for me to trim with a craft knife than wrap around the back of the board. If you have a large piece of lace you want to wrap it and avoid having to use a knife at all.
If you are using a craft knife, please be careful! Flip the magnetic board over, on top of a cutting mat and trim the lace,
I love my magnetic board! Coral is my favourite colour and the fact that there’s a Chalk Paint available in that shade fills me with glee!
Will you be giving any memo boards a make over any time soon?
