Why Mother’s Day Is So Important To Me, As A Daughter
When thinking of an appropriate title for the post I wanted to write today (about why mother’s day is so important to me), I came up with ‘Why I Delight In My Mothers Tears** On Gift Giving Holidays’ and while it’s true, I wasn’t really sure why.
Well, I knew I loved giving gifts but I also love making gifts. I’ve always claimed that it is to save money, unless it’s for my mum or granny. Then I try to make the most thoughtful gift I possibly can and the goal is to make them cry! Is the weird and horrible?!
The real reason I want to see tears (and why Mother’s Day is so important to me, as a daughter) I know I’ve made her happy! It means that she is overwhelmed with love, emotion and gratitude and how much I love her. It’s a way for me show her how much I appreciate everything she has EVER done for me and continues to do and that I feel very lucky she’s my mum. Although I do tell her that last part, just as a reminder.
The tears also show me that any efforts I’ve made, in sourcing a super thoughtful gift or making a super thoughtful gift, have been appreciated and said gift will be treasured.
Sure, there may have been some Chilli Jams that had the consistency of maple syrup but it was HARD work to make them that bad! I still blame Nigella.
Of course, not all of my gifts are handmade. I’m very lucky that everyone in my family appreciates a practical gift but if you can buy a super thoughtful gift, related to a very happy memory then you are GOLDEN!
Enter the Emma Bridgewater radio!
My mum and I used to love dancing around the living room when I was little, those are some of my absolute favourite memories and they always bring a smile to my face! I remember having so much fun I thought I was going to die from all the exercise. In honour of those memories, I created a playlist. Thanks to Spotify, BBC Playlister and the Liza Tarbuck Radio 2 Show (my favourite radio show EVER) I ended up with a fairly long playlist and I have to say, it sounds amazing through this radio. My favourite thing about this radio is that it has bluetooth so I can stream Spotify over to it from the iPad.
When VQ originally got in touch with me to tell me they would like to host a giveaway and offered up an Emma Bridgewater DAB radio as a prize, I thought it was an awesome fit for my readers and I was more than happy to collaborate. I was then told that I would also get a radio and I almost passed out. When it arrived I was like a kid at christmas!
I love it so much, I cart it up and down the stairs from living room to bedroom to kitchen to craft room... it just sounds so good.
A Little More Information About The Radio
The radio is called the View Quest Hepburn DAB/FM Bluetooth Digital Radio, and is an Exclusive Emma Bridgewater Design.
“The View Quest Hepburn is a DAB+ radio and NFC/ Bluetooth speaker which combines a vintage style with all the modern functionality you could possibly need. Wrapped up in a quality leatherette, the radio will complement any decor as it plays your favourite stations and playlists aloud.
Sounding as good as it looks, the Hepburn boasts award winning dual BMR Speakers which will surround you with immersive audio.
Boasting DAB and DAB+, the Hepburn grants you full access to a spectrum of digital services available across the UK and Europe. As an alternative, you can even switch to FM and tune in to your traditional analogue services.
Yet if you would rather enjoy your own music or any other content from streaming services such as Spotify, the VQ speaker can connect to your Smartphone, tablet, MP3 player or any other Smart device Bluetooth. Alternatively, the 3.5mm aux input and USB charging port can be used for the more traditional cable connections.
Control in the palm of your hand
With a custom developed VQ Control App on Android or iOS you can control your entire listening experience. Better still, with MyEQ a range of presets and custom controls can be reached which adjust the bass and treble.
The Hepburn can be enjoyed at home and on the go thanks to its use of standard mains power (UK/EU Plug) or batteries. And with a USB port you can even charge your devices as you play.
Sound the alarm
The radio features dual alarms and a countdown timer which can be set for whenever you need it.“
