Answers to Questions Asked in the recent Survey
Thank you to everyone who took the time to fill in the survey! Since all the survey questions were anonymous, I thought I would create a post for you with all the questions asked. I had some ideas for more in-depth posts in relation to the questions so you can let me know if you would like more information in the comments section below!
How do you keep your colors so consistent?
For a long time, I didn’t have consistent colours on my blog. This is because I didn’t know what my ‘style’ was and I hadn’t yet figured out what my favourite colour palette was. I love so many types of decor and I started to tear pages out of my interiors magazine and keep them in a binder. I then began to keep a ‘moodboard’ notebook. It was after a few of these ‘moodboards’ that I noticed a theme! I had figured out my favourite colour palette and my favourite shades; pastels! This really helped me figure out my favourite patterns, textures, fabrics and colour palettes. This was a very long process and a bit of a journey to be honest. Taking the blog course – blogging your way with Holly Becker and Leslie Shewring, really helped. Leslie Shewring really helped me to figure all of these things out. It also helped me plan my home decor! So, figure out your favourite colour palette. What colours make your heart sing? For me, it’s pastels. Blue, pink and yellow is my favourite colour palette. With those colours I can add Kraft, white, black or neutrals.
Where do you find your blog photos? (A separate question) Where do you get your ideas from?
My ideas for blog posts come from a number of sources;
bloglovin ‘similar blogs’ link
and blog hopping (some blogs have a list of their favourite blogs in the sidebar and most of my features come from there’
What is your favourite craft e.g sewing or knitting?
I like a lot of crafts but my favourite thing to do is to keep visual journals.
How did you build up your blog to where you are now with it?
Keeping at it! Be consistent, I post consistently. I read a lot of blog advice and I have taken Holly Beckers blog course (back in 2010). Always link your sources, be kind, be visible in the blogging community and be patient!
What crafting do you do in your craft room?
Project life, painting furniture, making decor for my home, journalling, sewing, scrapbooking etc. Mostly every kind of craft you can think of! Although for crochet I like to sit comfortably ^_^
How would you go about beginning to plan a beautiful craft space?
I started with a budget. An extreme budget! Then assess how much storage you need and what type. I kept a little notebook with a roughly drawn floor plan with measurements. I looked up all the different types of furniture and kept a note of the measurements for when I was looking at vintage furniture. Really it’s all about the storage. You can figure out all the decorative elements after that! Pick a colour scheme and figure out what type of decor you like; hanging pom poms, honeycomb balls, hanging baskets, garlands etc.
How do you find the time to blog so much?
I don’t have kids, I’m incredibly organised and I’m very good with time management! (It took a lot of practice)
I love some of the blogs you recommend, but when I follow them they do not translate into English!! Any advice?
Normally, with blogs in other languages, I follow with bloglovin and if they post something that I’m interested in reading I just head over to google translate and copy and paste the URL. Most blogs have a translator built into their sidebars, you just have to take a little look or do a CTRL F search for ‘Translate’. Let me know if that works!
