If I’m honest, I’ve never been that interested in homemade beauty recipes. In the past, I’ve made them as gifts for people but beauty isn’t really a huge factor in my life. As time passes, I realise that I desperately need to start taking care of my skin much better than I do! But that isn’t my number one reason for a newfound interest in natural beauty DIY projects…
Science tells us that we have 5 years to change our behaviour. After that, like the koala, we will become functionally extinct. Meaning that we will have passed the point of saving our planet.
I’ve been an environmentalist for as long as I can remember, so recently my husband and I have been attempting to seriously reduce the amount of single-use plastic that we use. In short, I plan to make everything myself and really go back to basics.

Homemade Beauty Recipes For Skin:
DIY Lavender and Vanilla Bath Bombs
I’m a huge advocate for self-care, so taking a long hard soak in the tub regularly. Epsom salt is the key ingredient to any bath I take! The magnesium and heat from the water help with my pain. You can read more about my conditions here.
Taking a soak with a lavender and vanilla bath bomb at night is the ideal way to relax!
How To Make Natural Rose Lavender Bath Bombs
Oatmeal is great for your skin! A friend and I used to always pamper ourselves with face masks; oatmeal was my favourite. As a result of using oatmeal, my face was so silky smooth. Moreover, those rose petals are a rather luxurious touch!
DIY Peppermint Coconut Sugar Scrub
If you need an invigorating body scrub for your morning shower, nothing will hit the spot like peppermint! Peppermint is also great to use in summer because midges (my mortal enemies) hate it. My blood must be very sweet because I get bitten non stop. So, I used to just add some mouthwash to a cotton pad and rub it against my skin to combat bites. Note – please don’t put food colouring in your version of this recipe. It’s really bad for your skin.
DIY Floral Bath Salts
This jar of bath salts looks like it would cost a small fortune in a fancy store like Anthropologie! Using lavender, rose, frankincense and lots of Epsom salts, you can soak your stresses away with these luxurious bath salts. Grab the printable labels along with the tutorial via Married to the Earth. You can also get a 32oz jar like the one used in the tutorial right here.
DIY Donut Bath Bombs
How stinkin’ cute are these?! I’m obsessed with all sweet and candy things. I talked about it in this post and shared my novelty candy Christmas ornaments! So, these DIY donut bath bombs are exactly my style and if you come around for tea, you might see some in the bathroom. They’re so pretty you could just keep them on display. Although, due to moisture in most bathrooms, they will begin to crumble much faster. Keeping them in a sealed container like this one is a much smarter idea.
Natural Beauty DIY Homemade Toner
If I’m honest, my skincare routine has been a little lax. As mentioned in the intro, I notice more and more that I need to nourish my skin and I just don’t. But I NEED to, or else I may transform into the crazy cat lady character from the Simpsons. Making skin care a priority and a habit is something that I’m definitely working on and this toner has made its way to the top of my list!
Natural Homemade Recipe For Hair Care:
