To Start Making This Fun DIY Positive Quotes Frame:
Remove the back of the frame to ensure that your chosen background is trimmed to the correct size, if not, ensure that it is. You can then use some Blu Tack to ensure that it’s attached to the back of the frame as we will be removing any glass or acetate so we are able to layer our paper and decorative elements.
The next step is choosing your contrasting paper and cutting to size. I'm going to be using 3 separate layers of scrapbook paper, all contrasting but complimentary in style as I don’t want it to detract from the quotes that will be attached.
Using 4 Glue Dots will mean that your paper is attached but you can also add in decorative elements like quirky paperclips when adding a little flare to your layers later on.
Adding A Little Fun DIY Flare
Choosing the decorative elements you will add to your layers is probably one of my favourite parts of any project as the possibilities are endless, but I’m always keeping in mind that I never want to detract from the quotes or affirmations that I decide to use.
I want it to be beautiful enough that I’m drawn to look at it every day but I want the main focus of the piece to be the positivity, so that I actually read it and it registers every day.
The reason this is important is because we remember 1 positive thing for every 100 negative things we recall, so consciously filling your brain with positivity is imperative if you want to cultivate a positive mindset.
As you can see in the video, when trimming the cardstock or even the quotes, I eyeballed it as I know that I will immediately spot any excess white space. Typically because that’s where the eye will be drawn naturally, and it’s just the type of crafter that I am!
A note on “Perfectionism”
You can of course use a ruler if you wish but I don’t encourage that type of perfectionism in art work. It tends to be the enemy of creativity, not always, but a lot of the time in my experience with clients that tends to be the case.
Perfect does not exist. It is a construct and you don’t owe it to anyone.
Embrace chaos! It sparks a little fire in one's heart.
I Hope You Enjoyed This Fun DIY!
Using positive quotes and positive affirmations is excellent for your mental health and it’s imperative that you place them somewhere that you will see them and actually look at them.
This is such a simple project and I hope you enjoyed watching!
