If you’re part of The Craft Cafe Facebook group, you will have seen the picture of my craft room/home office… The day I FINALLY decided to start clearing out. After about 30 minutes I had begun to regret my decision. It was a mess.
It took a few days to get organised. Beugh. I was, however, spurred on and super excited because I knew that my shelves would look so much better AND my secret weapon.
I thought it would be a very good idea to create a post for you, reveal my secret for a colourful home office and show you how to make your home office look beautiful and super organised at the same time!
Prettify & Organise Your Home Office:
My secret…. I had some new Nuno Deco fabric tapes from Hands On Workshop to use to make it look cute. Sometimes a change is as good as a rest.

Colourful Drawer Trim
It was such a relief to get my drawers organized finally. I felt so much lighter. My drawers and desk are ideal for getting organised and being productive, they were perfect for my space and budget but are not exactly ‘my style’.
In a dream world, my desk would be a beautiful, unique desk.. made from carved mango wood. My dream office would be shabby chic style and not so full of stuff. I own too much stuff though, and all of that stuff needs organizing!
To prettify my desk drawers, I decided to use colourful fabric tape along the top of the drawer so that you can see the pop of colour when the drawer is open and when it’s closed.
Customize Stationery With Washi Tapes
How cute is this folder? I bought 5 of them… In all different pastel shades. When I received the die cut fabric labels, I knew I could make my Happy Folder’s even cuter by adding a bow tie, a crown and some lovely trim.
Not to mention the fact that I could create labels that actually stick to the plastic dividers by using the white fabric tape and colourful pens (like these Sakura Moonlight pens).
Labels For Boxes
The colour of these tapes is adorable! I love the pastel shades, and they’re perfect for my craft room style. It’s helped me keep items in the boxes that they’re supposed to be in. Which in turn has reduced the amount of time that I spend looking for things!
Decorate Jars & Your Cricut Machine!
A few years ago I had painted jars in pastel shades to use as colourful little vases, but it wasn’t until I received this fabric tape that I thought of adding a small collar to the threaded top of the jar. I think it looks adorable and I love it! Especially the little bow tie and buttons.
Prettify A Pencil Case
How cute is this? I often gather up supplies for lettering projects and drawing to take down to my living room where I can get comfortable, so having this little happy pencil case is perfect. It’s a great size. I bought some plain cotton pencil cases, added the tapes and used an iron to press and make it permanent.
The little zipper has a scrap of Liberty Of London fabric attached.
This journey to having an organised home office isn’t complete, slow and steady wins the race. I had filled two cardboard boxes full of supplies to give away to a crafty little group of old ladies, who recycle my supplies, gift wrap and cards. How cute is that?!
