In this Making Sense Of Affiliate Marketing Review, I will review the entire course as honestly as I can. When it comes to affiliate marketing, there seems to be one ‘go-to’ course for bloggers which is this very course! The course creator is Michelle Schroeder-Gardner, who was featured in Forbes for making millions from her blog before she turned 30.
Her website is a huge success, mostly because of her incredibly honest income reports. I’d say that’s one of the main reasons her course became so popular. Being able to peruse income reports is truly fascinating and you discover how much bloggers really make. I’d need to be a little more organized for publishing income reports but I’m not against it. I think it’s a great idea!
In this review you will see the effect that taking Michelle’s course had on my income within weeks, then I’m sharing a screenshot of earnings over the first year. I took this course in 2017 and I’ve got 12 years experience pro blogging.
An Astonishingly Honest Making Sense Of Affiliate Marketing Review
Screenshot of my Pinterest stats (4/16/20):
Is her affiliate marketing course any good?
The reason I’ve been so successful with my income, which is pretty impressive if you consider the fact I only work 20 hours per week on my blogs. For that, I don’t have a choice. My chronic illnesses and disabilities prevent me from doing any more than that.
Back in 2016, I decided that I wanted to make even more money from affiliate marketing, as what I was making was under £100 each month. Now it’s well over £1000, depending on the program. I’ve joined many since taking the course and now I’m part of a program where I earn hundreds of dollars for one sale.
It has been almost three years since applying the strategies of making sense of Affiliate marketing and I haven’t looked back.
It’s important that you know that affiliate marketing should not be your entire business model. The smart approach is to have several different income streams for your business.
The income streams I have in my business:
- Sponsored deals
- Affiliate marketing
- Selling courses via Teachable
- Hosting a membership site on Patreon
- Developing custom Pinterest Strategies for bloggers and businesses
My Pinterest Account:
Affiliate Marketing is the main source of income from my blogs and I’m able to log back into making sense of affiliate marketing because the content is constantly updated. in
By using the strategies outlined in this course, and my Pinterest skills, I’m able to earn some passive income every month after some brief effort in the beginning.
Passive income is an excellent way for your brand to make money while you sleep. While there will always be an initial effort, the results are long term and repetitive. The strategies are also pretty *rinse and repeat* which is why so many marketers are able to multiply their income so dramatically.
By using different high paying affiliate programs and setting up all of your content through automation is the best way to earn income passively.
In the beginning though, just focus on the thing that is in front of you. If that means you must focus on learning the basics of affiliate marketing, start there. But you must have some initial patience so you can truly digest the material and do the course work.
Making Sense Of Affiliate Marketing Review | Why invest in the course?
Before I started the course, I had Amazon affiliate marketing setting on my site, sort of. Like many of you, I had gone to different websites for bits and pieces of information but it was like getting a 10,000 piece puzzle with no picture reference. I had NO idea what I was doing and literally earning a couple of dollars here and there. That was NOT what I wanted and it was pretty frustrating.
So I decided to invest in Michelle’s course, schedule time in every single workday to follow the course and do the homework.
Here are my results:
In fact, Michelle has ONE particular blog post that has earned her over $300,000. FROM ONE POST! Obviously, the girl knows her onions…and she’ll give YOU her strategies! If you are ready to finally make the money you want from your blog and you want to learn the right way to do it, check out this training.
How Do Some Earn $10,000 Each Month With Affiliate Marketing Alone?
By going through these modules I was able to see pretty quickly that I wasn’t utilising a lot of what I had at my fingertips. It was the number one mistake most bloggers make with affiliate marketing; throwing up links here there and everywhere.
I also realised that there had been a disconnect between myself and readers, as I was so busy building it, I wasn’t spending enough time in it and connecting with people there.
This was the tipping point, where I was able to make a few tweaks and see some quick results.
A Little More About Michelle:
She currently makes over $50, 000 per month by using Affiliate Marketing. She’s even earned $300,000 from one post. Ok, I’m clearly leaving money on the table somewhere along the way.
At the time, my goal was to make $7,000 per month which is approximately £5000.
This was over three years ago and my blog income is way more than the $7000 per month I planned out to make using my online business. I have since taken advanced affiliate marketing training and that’s how I was able to grow even more but that was over 2.5 years after I had taken Michelle’s course and was ready to take it up a notch.

The Course offers 6 modules over 30 lessons. It also has several worksheets for you to use, including bonuses and an exclusive Facebook group for those that are part of the course.
This was extremely important to me as I wanted to be able to learn from other entrepreneurs and see what they were doing to get ahead with creating passive income for themselves.

This module covers everything you need to know about serving your readers by offering solutions to their problems. You are offering a service to your readers and it’s not something seedy.
Research tactics are essential because if you don’t know how to get in your readers head, so Michelle covers that. It will make finding affiliate programs so much easier. Worksheets are included with all modules but I take notes in a notebook as I tend to write the same notes repeatedly. They’re a little like “all work and no play makes Claire a dull girl” but it helps me remember.
MODULE 3: FOLLOW THE RULES
This section covers all of the legal wrangling required to perform affiliate marketing to readers in the US but there are rules worldwide. You will find out how to be legal with your blog which is essential.
MODULE 4: HOW TO GET YOUR READERS TO CONVERT
In this module, you will be told to start using a plugin called Pretty Links, there is a free version and you won’t have to use the paid version. MODULE 5: STRATEGIES AND WAYS TO PROMOTE YOUR AFFILIATE LINKS

MODULE 6: RINSE AND REPEAT
In this module, you’ll learn how to deal with your affiliate manager to get the most out of your campaigns. You’ll also understand the importance of ensuring all your links stay valid, checking your stats, communicating with your affiliate manager and continually optimizing your top 10, Some advice is also given around sales during the holidays.
Again, most of the material in this module is good for those with existing blogs only. The info is common sense for the most part so nothing groundbreaking here.
In this section, you will find out how to get accepted into affiliate programs even if you’re a beginner. You’ll find out exactly what to do if one of your posts goes viral, how you can increase your pageviews and much more. A lot of this content comes from guest experts but if you want to learn about traffic and Pinterest, there’s a lot of information on my other site here.
THE REFUND POLICY:
There’s a 30-day refund guarantee with this product but you must prove you went through the material and took action. Which, as a seller of digital products I think is completely fair.
Overall, I got unbelievable results but I’m almost certain this course is geared more towards those with an existing blog like I was. I was already making money, I just wanted to get strategic. As a newbie, I think you could get lost.
The only traffic that the course deals with is Pinterest which I find less successful at converting to affiliate sales than SEO. However, I have taken an SEO course also to help with traffic and conversions. It’s just important to note that it isn’t an all in one solution for sales and traffic. Mostly, it’s getting a strategy developed which is actually worth way more than the course costs.
Again, within weeks I had already increased my affiliate sales just with a couple of simple tweaks. The course is constantly updated so that means that you will always have the most relevant and high converting information, as long as you are still a student.
You have exclusive access to the Facebook group as a student of the course AND there’s a Tailwind Tribe.
The Tailwind Tribe is Great For Traffic
I have several Tailwind accounts for my sites to schedule Pinterest pins and it has an excellent feature called Tribes. It’s basically a private group for Pinners so we can all share fellow students pin images. When you submit pins to the tribe feed and other people share them. I also find great content to share on my page. Since there are a lot of big bloggers in there, it’s a great way to get traffic as a noob.
You need to be signed up for Tailwind to use the Tribes feature.
